  1. Home
  2. Research

Women’s Health research at SPH examines women’s physical and mental health across the lifespan, as well as psychosocial aspects of health (such as socio-demographic and lifestyle factors) and women’s use of health services.

Our aim is to increase knowledge and awareness of the many factors affecting women’s health and to provide an evidence base to aid the development of policy to improve women’s lives through better health.

Research groups

  • Sexual health
The main focus of our research is the sexual health of population groups, including young people, LGBTIQ+, people living with HIV and sex workers
  • Hygiene
Our research aims to inform decision makers about infrastructure and technologies, cleaning products, and services that influence hygienic outcomes
  • Women's health services
Our research influences the development and evaluation of policy and practice in areas of service delivery that affect women
  • HIV Hub
Our research aims to understand the drivers of HIV, the lived experience of the disease and our best approaches to prevention and treatment.
