Casual tutors and/or markers

The School of Public Health teaches into several programs at The University of Queensland at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program. We are seeking applicants with diverse skills and expertise to contribute to our growing community at the School of Public Health. We are seeking casual academic staff to run tutorial classes and/or mark assessments. The School of Public Health welcomes applications from candidates with expertise in the following discipline areas:

  • Epidemiology and biostatistics
  • Health promotion and protection
  • Determinants of health
  • Research methods
  • First Nations’ health
  • Health services, systems and policy

Applicants must have the right to work in Australia for the duration of their employment. Honours or postgraduate qualification(s), current enrolment in a higher degree research or postgraduate coursework program, and/or industry experience relevant to the teaching discipline will be highly regarded. Relevant teaching experience is desirable and beneficial to hold, but is not essential.

New applicants must be available for compulsory training sessions scheduled for the week prior to semester.

All current academic tutors and markers must be reuploaded in the University’s casual academic hire and payment system (CAHPS) at the start of each academic year. If you have not held a casual teaching appointment in the School of Public Health in the last 12 months, you will need to submit a new EOI.

We welcome expressions of interest at any time of the year. Expressions of interest will be reviewed prior to the start of each teaching semester. For example, if you submit an EOI during Semester 1, this will be reviewed in May/June. Similarly, if you submit an application in Semester 2, this will be reviewed in December/January.
