What Matters 2 Kids

What Matters 2 Kids

The What Matters 2 Kids (WM2K) project is co-designing a nationally relevant, strengths-based wellbeing measure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 5–11 years. The project is lead by researchers from the Australian National University, The University of Queensland and the University of Sydney.

The measure will be grounded in children’s experiences, values and culture, and scored using their preferences. Our multi-disciplinary team is drawing on best-practice approaches to co-design with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and using mixed-methods approaches to develop the measure.

The WM2K measure will enable robust evaluation of the impact on wellbeing of programs, policies and interventions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children across a range of settings. It will enhance transparency, responsiveness and relevance of both clinical and health policy decision-making.
