Health systems

Health systems research spans the global to the very local, examining actors, processes, context and policy content. It is inter-disciplinary—bringing together social and political scientists, policy analysts and epidemiologists around complex problems.

We research global governance and policy and the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Universal Health Coverage, HIV, mental health and well-being, water, sanitation and hygiene. We are taking a systems approach to multi-sectoral challenges in Asia and the Pacific, using One Health to address key zoonotic epidemics. And nationally, we are undertaking community based research with LGBTQI communities, exploring the psychological aspects of living with HIV, and translating longitudinal research evidence into women’s health services.
