Climate Change in the Pacific - implications for future actvities of the Australian Defence Force
Initial climate change stocktakes conducted in eight Pacific countries identified an important knowledge gap in relation to the implications of climate change impacts for health. While there is some evidence of changes, including in the incidence of vector borne disease (e.g. an emerging correlation between rising temperatures and the spread of malaria - in Solomon Islands), and a general synthesis of current knowledge (by WHO), there is as yet no comprehensive analysis or synthesis of current evidence and information on trends that is policy relevant and country specific, especially with reference to future activities of the ADF.
