Workshop Overview

This is a 2 day introductory workshop to acquaint existing health researchers with the skills needed to undertake basic research using linked health data. Participants will be provided with both theoretical and hands on training.

Desktop computers will be available to use at UQ during the workshop. Course notes will be distrubuted to each participant. Places are limited to a maximum of 20. Tea and co ee will be provided.

Who is this workshop for ?

Current health researchers, who are working on or planning projects that use linked health record data. For example Medical Bene ts Schedule (MBS), Pharmaceutical Bene ts Scheme (PBS), admitted patients, or aged care datasets.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this workhop, participants should be able to:
• Understand how linked data is created, and appreciate its role in health research
• Understand the ethical/privacy issues, and the application process for accessing linked health data • Be able to incorporate linked data in the design of studies
• Be able to manipulate linked data to prepare it for analysis
• Complete basic analysis of linked data.
