4Cs

Communication & Collaboration in Cancer Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People

4Cs project aims to enhance patient-centred care through more effective interaction and cross-cultural communication between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people receiving cancer treatment and their healthcare providers.

The 4Cs project is funded by an NHMRC Partnership Grant and is being conducted in collaboration with cancer centres in Brisbane, Darwin, Cairns and Townsville. Other collaborating institutions include, the University of Sydney, Menzies School of Health Research, James Cook University, Curtin University, University of NSW, Monash University, GenesisCare, and the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The project is developing and testing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific cancer resources such as a radiation therapy talking book and a question prompt list for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cancer patients.
