Sammi is a non-Indigenous PhD candidate in the First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research Program at The University of Queensland's School of Public Health. Sammi graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Business and a Master of Social Work.

During her Social Work studies Sammi undertook a placement with Australians for Native Title and Reconciliation Queensland (ANTaR Qld) to develop the strategic direction for their Removal of Children advocacy campaign. Sammi also completed an internship with the Aboriginal Child, Family & Community Care State Secretariat (AbSec) through the Aurora Internship Program. Sammi will be supervised by Professor Gail Garvey within the Health & Wellbeing of Indigenous Youth in Out-of-Home Care project.
