The Australian E-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) built the MadeHER app for the University of Queensland, as part of a study on periods and pelvic pain in adolescents. It is a free tool available only to selected study participants. It is intended for use as is.

AEHRC respects your right to privacy and is committed to safeguarding the privacy of all our customers, clients and users. AEHRC adheres to the National Privacy Principles established by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy sets out how we collect, use and disclose your personal information if you use our Service. What do we mean by ‘Personal Information’? We define this as:

information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information or opinion is true or not; and whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Use, which is accessible via the App unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

This app does not collect any personally identifiable information, meaning we do not collect any of the following name, date of birth, address, email, gender, postcode.

Informed consent will be obtained electronically prior to participation in the MadeHER Study.  Consent from a parent or guardian will be obtained for those aged less than 14 years old. Assent will be obtained from participants less than 14 years old.

Data collected using the digital menstrual diary app will be stored on the Google Firebase server (Sydney, Australia) and exported to UQ Research Data Manager (RDM). Access to project data will be limited to the MadeHER project team.

Participants will be assigned an identification number which will be used to de-identify survey data. No identifiable data will be recorded in the digital menstrual diary app. Survey and app data will be linked using a unique identifier. No app data or information will be released to third parties, i.e. Google. Non-identifiable survey and app data will be made available to other researchers on request, and only after other researchers have provided the necessary governance and ethical approvals.

The CSIRO are bound by the study Collaborative Research Agreement in place with The University of Queensland, as required by part of the NHMRC funding agreement.

Google Firebase

Data collected from the MadeHER app is stored on Google Firebase (Sydney, Australia) for subsequent analysis. No Personal Information is stored here.

Cookies

Cookies are files with tiny amounts of data that are used as anonymous unique identifiers.

This Service does not use these “cookies” explicitly and the app does not use third party code and libraries that use “cookies” to collect information and improve their services. You are not asked to approve the use of cookies as these are not used in any manner in this service.

Security

We value your trust in providing us information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 11. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 11 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 11 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
