Overview

Despite the public health importance of exposure to prenatal and postnatal adversities for mothers and children, little is known about their potential life course health outcomes. The overall aim of this PhD project is to investigate the life course outcomes in mothers and children exposed to adverse pregnancy outcomes. Adversities assessed in this study include previous pregnancy terminations and child deaths, as well as unintended pregnancy and child maltreatment over the early life course. The study uses data taken from multiple phases of prospective longitudinal study of the Mater-University of Queensland Study of Pregnancy (MUSP) and its outcomes.

Brief Bio  

Amanuel Abajobir is a PhD student at UQ’s School of Public Health and was previously a lecturer at the Medical School of Debre Markos University in Ethiopia. His research interests are maternal and child health, and infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS from reproductive and family health perspectives).
