Professor Simon Reid presents : Global Engagement in SPH: A conversation starter
Presented by Professor Simon Reid
The School aims to expand its Global Engagement activity in support of the UQ Strategic Goal to achieve “extensive global reach in education and research with a strong commitment to capacity building in the Indo-Pacific”. Since 2022, the university has increased its focus on Global Partnerships and Engagement with an emphasis on global student recruitment (particularly postgraduate), student mobility programs (New Colombo and student exchange), collaborative education opportunities and delivering more capacity-building projects and customised training in the Indo-Pacific through UQ’s Global Development team. In 2022, a Global engagement strategy was drafted by Peter Hill following a period of internal consultation. This seminar is designed as a starting point for a broader discussion to develop a school-wide program of engagement activities. I will provide an overview of the draft SPH Global Engagement Strategy and some personal reflections on recent training activities we have completed.
