The Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2018 ranks 4000 institutions across 54 subjects spanning natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences.

School of Public Health Head Professor Charles Gilks said the subject’s 18th place ranking was something to be proud of.

“Having the UQ School of Public Health ranked so highly on a global scale is a tribute to the hard work of our staff and researchers, and their dedication to advancing the field of public health.”

Rankings were based on measures of research productivity and quality, the extent of international collaboration, and academic recognition.

“The School’s latest rankings are impressive, having improved from rank 22 last year,” Professor Gilks said.

“Such an enhanced international profile gives our staff and students great confidence.

“It is reassuring to know that our peers and colleagues recognise the quality of our teaching and research.

“Current and future students can be confident that they’ll have access to a world-class teaching environment by choosing to study at our school.”

Clinical Medicine, Human Biological Sciences and Medical Technology were also ranked within the top 100, and all medical science subjects ranked within the top 200.
