CliMigHealth Asia Pacific is part of an international, transdisciplinary network, integrating diverse expertise and representing the Asia Pacific region through strengthening research, education and knowledge translation capacity.
Vision and Mission
CliMigHealth’s vision is to render broad societal impact by generating knowledge on the interactions between climate change, migration and health(care). Ultimately, the goal is to better adapt to, mitigate and prepare for current and future effects of climate change; to have a greater understanding of the role of migration and its impact; and to develop resilient, inclusive and responsive health systems
To realise our vision, our mission is to guide more comprehensive and sustainable responses to address the complex migration and health(care) patterns arising from and contributing to climate change.
CliMigHealth aims to form a collaborative and knowledge platform between academic institutions, non-profit organisations and individual experts.
Guiding Principles
Enable researchers, NGOs, practitioners and journalists to explore the climate change, migration and health(care) nexus.
Communicate research findings to allow for policy reform, to be accessible to the broader public and to be visible.
Break down silos that exist between disciplines and enable cross-cutting education and research.
Build up early career researchers through the internship program and by allowing them into a network of globally recognised institutions and leaders.
Advocate for a climate-resilient future.
Collaboration Strategy
In the current era of overlapping crises, many countries in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, Fiji and Tuvalu are among the most climate-exposed areas globally, facing rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation that are already reshaping patterns of human mobility and generating profound health challenges.
The Asia-Pacific Hub seeks to build regional capacity by bringing together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community stakeholders to co-develop solutions tailored to the specific challenges of the region. With Australia presiding over COP31 in Türkiye in 2026, there is an opportunity to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and amplify regional voices in global debates on climate, migration, and health.
The Asia-Pacific Hub is coordinated by The University of Queensland’s School of Public Health, with contributions from researchers across public health, and other disciplines including climate science, migration studies, and policy. It serves as a regional anchor for the CliMigHealth Network, facilitating inter-regional collaboration with other hubs and partners in the region and aligning with global strategies for resilience and equity.
