Current projects

  • Centre for Research Excellence on Sitting Time & Chronic Disease Prevention: Measurement, Mechanisms, and Interventions: This CRE , led by Prof Neville Owen, brings together national and interntional research teams to build new interdisciplinary research capacities and to integrate and advance knowledge on sitting time and chronic disease prevention. The UQ group co-lead the measurement (Genevieve Healy) and intervention (Elizabeth Eakin) themes. 
  • Stand Up Australia: The Stand Up Australia program of research investigates the benefits of reducing prolonged sitting in the desk-based workplace.This program, co-lead by our group and the Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute (lead Prof David Dunstan) includes nine interventions and evaluations, including our flagship Stand Up Victoria trial. 
  • BeUpstandingTMBeUpstanding is a national initiative designed to support work teams to stand up, sit less and move more. It is currently being evaluated in a national implementation trial with funding from the NHMRC Partnership Project Scheme.
