Researcher biography

Dr Damian Santomauro is a senior research fellow for the Policy and Epidemiology Group (PEG) based at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR). He is also an affiliate assistant professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, for his work on the Global Burden of Disease Study where he is responsible for the severity analysis, and the epidemiological modelling of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), ADHD, conduct disorder, eating disorders, and bullying victimisation. Damian's PhD investigated emotion regulation in adolescents and young adults with ASD. This project involved managing the first randomised controlled trial of a group cognitive behavioural intervention targeting depression in adolescents with ASD. Damian has a keen interest in statistics and research methodology and currently acts as PEG's resident statistician.
