Professor Sandra Creamer is a Waanyi/Kalkadoon Indigenous woman who is the CEO of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance- which reports directly the Australian Government’s Office for Women and the relevant Minister.

Professor Creamer holds and has held significant leadership roles for Australia at the UN and other international organisations. She holds a Law degree and has held previous academic roles. Her interest in public health pertains to health being a central issue for Indigenous women to raise their families with maximum opportunity and productivity and, in doing so, reduce current inequalities in health and other aspects of their lives.

Sandra’s access to high-level political and policy decision-makers, and her international links are well-matched with UQ School of Public Health’s excellence in research. Sandra has expressed the value she sees in UQ and NATSIWA partnering on projects to produce a strong evidence base on which long-lasting and positive health policies for indigenous Australians can be based.
